Therapy is insight.

Why start here?

I’ve been trained in the therapeutic intake techniques believed to provide the most rapid and honest insights into people’s psyches and behaviors. This, as you’d expect, provides a strong and crucial base for all of the work that follows, in both the therapeutic and coaching arenas.

How does it work?

Therapy begins with a 1-2 hour intake interview in person or

over the phone. A treatment plan is determined and subsequent individual, family or couple sessions will occur weekly and will

last 1 hour.

Coaching is action.

What is coaching?

Professional coaching helps people to explore and identify areas of strength as well as areas of concern in their lives.

By determining areas of need, coaching focuses on setting goals and creating positive outcomes and managing personal change. Coaching is not therapy. It is a method that supports personal and professional growth based on self-initiated change in pursuit of specific outcomes.

The emphasis in coaching relationships is on action, accountability and follow through.

What do I do to begin the coaching process?

Personal and/or parent coaching begins with an intake interview either in person or by phone. I will assess challenges, define the scope of the coaching relationship and then, together, we'll determine priorities for action and desired outcomes.

When there’s a crisis, call me.

There will be moments in your lives when you could really use a little guidance or just a sounding board. I’m available for my clients 24/7 because sometimes a quick phone call can provide the insight and guidance that can turn a difficult situation into a growing experience.

If we can’t do it, we know someone who can.

Why a referral?

In some instances, I won’t be the ideal therapist or coach for you. There are any number of reasons why this may be the case, but if we determine that it is, I can offer you referrals to the mental health or medical professionals who would be a good fit for your particular needs. I maintain a database of highly regarded mental health, medical and coaching professionals and would be happy to make an introduction if you’d like.

How does it work?

We schedule a 15 minute phone call to address the concerns you are having as it relates to parenting. Once I get a clear understanding of the issues, I will consult with the appropriate professionals. I will then provide you with a follow up email and/or phone calls to put you in touch with those professionals.

Remember, you are not alone.

What if I want to join a support group?

Joining a support group can offer comfort through sharing struggles and strategies with others. But it must be the right group – made up of those teens or parents who share similar struggles and complementary dispositions. For teens, being about the same age can be important, too. Sometimes putting together the support group is the most important factor in the success of it for its members. I am a skilled support group creator and facilitator and offer group work for parents and teens.

If you are a parent who is interested in joining a support group, please contact me.

I also offer groups for those in middle school and high school. If you are interested in joining a support group with kids your age, contact me.

How does it work?

Once we have completed the 15 minute phone consultation and determine that group work is appropriate, we schedule an intake interview to get a clearer understanding of the issues. I will then suggest a group that best fits your needs.
